Deep in the heart of a lush green forest stood a grand old banyan tree. Its mighty branches stretched across the sky like an ancient king’s throne, and it was home to many creatures. But among all the inhabitants, two parrots named Ajay and Ajan were the most famous. Ajay was adventurous and spirited. His green feathers gleamed like emeralds under the sun, and his eyes sparkled with curiosity. Every few days, Ajay would flap his wings and fly all the way to the nearby city. He loved exploring the bustling streets, picking up crumbs of bread, grains, and juicy fruits that the people left behind. Ajan, on the other hand, was calm and cautious. He preferred the peace of the forest. While Ajay went on his daring city adventures, Ajan stayed home, gathering fruits, berries, and nuts for their meals. Despite their differences, the two were the best of friends, sharing their food, stories, and dreams under the shelter of the banyan tree. Life went on happily for a long time. But one fateful morning, things changed. Ajay, as usual, flapped his wings and soared toward the city, eager to find some tasty treats. The city was lively, filled with noise, people, and colorful markets. Ajay swooped through the stalls, nibbled on some sweet mango slices, and perched on a lamppost, enjoying the sights. But he didn’t notice the danger lurking nearby. A sly hunter, who captured birds to sell them as pets, had been watching Ajay. He marveled at Ajay’s bright feathers and playful nature. "What a rare parrot! I could make a fortune selling him," the hunter thought. Quietly, he crept closer and tossed a net into the air. Before Ajay could react, he was tangled in the net, fluttering and squawking in fear. The hunter quickly stuffed him into a small iron cage and carried him away, ignoring Ajay’s desperate cries. Back in the forest, Ajan waited patiently at their nest. Afternoon turned into evening, and evening into night, but Ajay did not return. Ajan grew worried. He peered from the tree, flapping his wings nervously, calling out, "Ajay! Ajay! Where are you?" But there was no reply. By morning, Ajan knew something was terribly wrong. His heart pounded with fear. He decided he couldn’t sit still any longer. He needed help. Ajan flew from tree to tree, gathering the forest animals. He called the wise old owl, the swift deer, the strong elephants, the mischievous monkeys, the fierce tigers, and even the tiny squirrels and colorful butterflies. When everyone had gathered under the banyan tree, Ajan spoke bravely, "Friends, our dear Ajay has been captured! I fear he is trapped in the city. We must rescue him!" The animals murmured and chattered among themselves. The city was a dangerous place for them, full of humans, noise, and traps. But their friendship and loyalty to Ajay gave them courage. The mighty elephant stomped his foot and declared, "We will go!" The monkeys cheered, swinging from branch to branch. The tiger growled, "No one harms a member of our forest family!" And so, the plan was made. That very night, the Great Forest Army would march into the city to rescue Ajay. As the sun set, the animals moved silently toward the city, their eyes glowing in the darkness. The owls scouted from above. The deer and tigers moved swiftly through the grass. The monkeys carried ropes and sticks. Even the small creatures like rabbits and squirrels played their part, sneaking into narrow alleys and causing distractions. Meanwhile, poor Ajay sat miserably in his cage. He missed the open sky, the fresh fruits, and most of all, his friend Ajan. He sighed, his heart heavy with sadness. Suddenly, he heard a soft whisper. "Psst... Ajay!" Ajay’s eyes widened. He looked around and saw a tiny squirrel peeking through the window bars. "Don’t worry!" the squirrel squeaked. "Help is here!" Ajay’s heart leapt with hope. Moments later, chaos erupted outside. The monkeys swung down from the rooftops, shrieking and throwing fruits at the humans. The elephants stomped through the streets, toppling carts and stalls. The deer darted through the crowds, causing confusion. The tigers roared loudly, sending people running in fear. The hunter who had captured Ajay woke up with a start. He grabbed a stick and rushed outside to see what was happening. Seizing the chance, the monkeys clambered into the house and quickly found Ajay's cage. The strongest among them, a big gray monkey named Bhalu, smashed the cage with a heavy rock. Clang! The lock broke, and the door swung open. Ajay flapped his wings joyfully and burst out of the cage, letting out a loud squawk of freedom. "Come on, Ajay! Let’s go!" cried Bhalu. Ajay followed the monkeys out into the street. The elephants trumpeted loudly, the tigers roared again, and the humans scattered, running for their lives. Some of the city folk were so frightened they hid inside their houses, peeking through the windows as the forest animals rampaged through the town. In the middle of the chaos, Ajay spotted Ajan perched on a lamppost, waiting for him. "Ajay!" Ajan cried, flying toward him. The two parrots hugged each other with their wings, tears of joy shining in their eyes. "You came for me!" Ajay said, overwhelmed. "Of course, brother," Ajan said. "We are family." The animal army gathered around them, protecting them from the humans. Before leaving, the monkeys mischievously grabbed some baskets of fruits, the elephants knocked over a few more stalls for good measure, and the tigers growled one final warning to the humans: "Never harm our friends again!"
The animals then retreated back to the forest, victorious and proud. Back under the great banyan tree, a grand feast was held. The parrots, monkeys, elephants, tigers, deer, rabbits, squirrels, and even the butterflies celebrated together, sharing fruits, dancing, and telling the story of their daring rescue. As the celebration ended, Ajan turned to Ajay and said seriously, "Ajay, promise us you will not go to the city again. It's too dangerous." Ajay nodded solemnly. "I promise. From now on, I will stay here, where my true family is." The forest echoed with cheers. Life returned to normal, but with a new spirit of unity and friendship. Ajay never forgot the day his friends risked everything to save him. Every morning, he and Ajan would sit on their favorite branch, looking out over the forest, grateful for the love that bound them all together. And so, Ajay, Ajan, and all the animals of the forest lived happily ever after, under the protective shade of the great banyan tree.
